The family of a man who died after being involved in a collision on the Ely Valley Road on Thursday, 29th August have paid tribute to him.
Stephen Owens from Newbridge, Gwent who died following a road traffic collision on the Ely Valley Road.
Stephen Owens, aged 42, was from the Newbridge area of Gwent.
As he was walking across the Ely Valley Road between Coed Ely and Thomastown, he was in collision with a brown Seat Ibiza at around 9.15pm.
Stephen was taken to Royal Glamorgan Hospital where he later died.
He has been described as a real character – a happy go lucky person. He has left behind a loving and devoted father, John Owens and two daughters Natalie and Kirsty.
His father John said:
“Stephen as a young man was an honest, fun and likeable boy. I as his father will unconditionally love him for the rest of my life.”
Stephen’s daughters Natalie and Kirsty, added:
“It’s sad to say goodbye so soon. We always hoped that one day you would be a bigger part of our lives but we will always remember and love you as the father you once were. Love Natalie and Kirsty. Your safe now, rest in peace. XXX”
Officers investigating the collision are still appealing for people with information to come forward.
They would like to speak with anyone who may have seen the car or the pedestrian in the moments leading up to collision.
