By election coming up for Pontypridd Town Council

RCT Welsh Liberal Democrats

Following the death of Town Councillor Mrs Pam Harper there will be a by election for the Rhondda ward on Pontypridd Town Council.
The Rhondda ward covers Hopkinstown, part of Trehafod, Maesycoed and Pwllgwaun. The date for the election has not yet been set. The Welsh Liberal Democrats have selected a candidate who will be announced in due course.
The Town Council, like the County Council, is currently run by Labour. In our opinion it should do more than it currently does to speak up on behalf of the residents of the Pontypridd area. There could also be much more interaction and effort to engage with the public.
There is a website, but the information on it is limited to say the least. At the time of writing this the 'latest news' is from November 1st and the list of Council meetings dates referred to on the front page has not yet been put on there. The 2013 events guide is likewise conspicuous by its absence.
The Town Council could do so much more to integrate itself into the community and let people feel they have a say in the running of their town.
