The crowds and umbrellas came out in force in south Wales yesterday to welcome the Queen’s Baton Relay ahead of its seven-day tour.
And after a successful first day it’s an early start for the baton on day two as it takes a private tour of the Royal Mint in Llantrisant where European Champion and Commonwealth bronze medallist Rhys Williams will strike the first circulating Commonwealth Games 50p.
The baton will then travel up to Rhondda Heritage Park, followed by Dare Valley where it will start its relay down to Aberdare Park for its annual festival.
Baton bearers from the world of Welsh sport, including Commonwealth gold medal-winning weightlifter Michaela Breeze, will be on hand to accompany the baton.
The relay will then travel up to Llandrindod Wells lake to be met by Kirsty Wade, and for an evening of family fun-filled celebrations.
