The play is based on the true life events that took place in Bridgend at the end of World War 2, and as in previous years, is sure to enthral and enthuse young and old alike. On the night of March the 10th, 1945, 70 German Prisoners of War escaped from Camp 198 in Bridgend. It was the biggest escape attempt by German POWs in Britain during the Second World War. The whole community play a part in the hunt for the POWs including four children, who armed with sticks and catapults set about capturing the Gerries!
'Halt! Who Goes There?' once again proves to be a popular choice with schools, and as Geinor Styles, the Artistic Director of Theatr na nÓg explains: ' It's easily one my favourite shows, it's really moving, yet funny at times and a great little show that not only illustrates the excitement of living during World War 2, but also the harsh realities of being separated from your loved ones during conflict.'
Phylip Harries, Theatr na nÓg’s Associate Director directs the production, and the company is pleased to have a talented cast of Welsh actors on board - Jack Quick; Chris Kinahan; Caryl Morgan and Ceri Phillips.
