Gwenda Thomas, the Deputy Minister for Children and Social Services, has written to Chief Executives and Directors of Social Services of all Local Authorities in Wales, and Chief Executives of Local Health Boards in Wales, reminding them about the ‘Self-Assessment checklist for monitoring services for people with learning difficulties and challenging behaviour’.
The checklist is a tool to establish what is in place and working well for people with learning difficulties and challenging behaviour in local areas. The Welsh Government’s (2007) Statement on Policy and Practice for Adults with a Learning Disability made significant reference to those people whose behaviour poses challenges to services.
The checklist was produced by the Learning Disability Advisory Group, in order to support agencies to monitor and further develop services for this group of people.
The checklist can be downloaded from http://wales.gov.uk/topics/health/publications/socialcare/guidance1/chec.... Hard copies are available from Sarah.Morris@wales.gsi.gov.uk.
