At the Wales YFC AGM held at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on 5th October, Delme Harries was elected as Honorary Life Vice President of Wales YFC in recognition of his contribution towards the organisation.
Delme is a well-known face within YFC and has made the most of every opportunity that has come his way through the movement. He is a past club, county and Wales Chairman and was also elected as Chairman of Rural Youth Europe in 2006. He has been club leader for his local club, Llysyfran, and is always on hand to help them with competitions and events.
At the Wales YFC AGM, Aled Jones, Chairman of the European Rally Committee, entertained members with an amusing and informative account of Delme’s contribution to YFC and Katie Davies from Llysyfran gave a personal insight into the work that Delme had carried out with his local club. There were countless anecdotes and stories of Delme’s adventures within YFC and a powerpoint of photos served as a backdrop for the proposals.
Having being elected as Honorary Life Vice President, Delme commented;
“I am honoured and delighted to have been elected as a Life Vice President of Wales YFC whilst at the same time extremely humbled at this honour when so many people have given so much to the Clubs, Counties and to Wales YFC. Wales YFC is an amazing organisation and I am delighted that the members have given me this honour and the opportunity to continue to be involved with Wales YFC.”
