Pupils from Ysgol Gyfun Cymer Rhondda raised hundreds of pounds for one of the Mayor’s chosen charities by holding a Macmillan Coffee Morning at the school, in Porth.
Pupils Dylan Davies, Tyler Richards and Rebecca Williams and teacher Sion Owen presented a cheque for just over £409 for Macmillan Cancer Support (RCT), raised through the coffee morning, to Rhondda Cynon Taf’s Mayor Cllr Ann Crimmings.
Cllr Crimmings has chosen to support Macmillan Cancer Support (RCT), Guide Dogs Cymru and Diabetes Peer Support for Children (RCT) through her charity appeal during her year of office.
The Mayor thanked the pupils and teacher and told them about her duties. There was also a special visit from Sarah Davies from Guide Dogs Cymru, who brought along two dogs currently being trained - April and Bliss - and answered questions from the pupils.
Cllr Crimmings said: "I would like to say a big thanks to the pupils and staff at Ysgol Gyfun Cymer for their contribution to one of my chosen charities. It was a pleasure to meet everyone."
Donations to the Mayor’s Charity Appeal can now be made through a new secure online service. Please visit the Mayor's page if you would like to make a donation. Or if you have an idea for a fundraising event, please contact the Mayoral Office in Pontypridd on 01443 494061.
