Cracking charity events for Easter!

Get along to two great events at Dare Valley Country Park, Aberdare, this Easter – and you can help raise money for some very worthy causes.

The fun-packed Easter Egg Hunt and Lap the Lake Run will be held on Easter weekend in aid of Rhondda Cynon Taf Mayor’s Charity Appeal.

Children can enjoy an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday April 19 and Sunday 20, 2014, at Dare Valley. Youngsters can hunt for clues between 10am and 4pm and every child who takes part will receive a chocolate treat when their search is over. Entry to the event is £1 per child and there is no need to pre-book.

On Sunday, April 20, people of all ages are invited to ‘Lap the Lake’ at a 2k family run or a 5k run for adults, from 10.30am. The 2k run is suitable and accessible for wheelchair users. Entry to the event is £5 per adult or £3 per child.

All proceeds from these events will go to Guide Dogs Cymru, Macmillan Cancer Support (RCT) and Diabetes Peer Support for Children (RCT), the charities supported by Mayor Ann Crimmings during her year of office.

Cllr Crimmings said: “I hope many people will come along to our ‘Easter Eggstravaganza’ in the wonderful setting of Dare Valley Country Park. Both days promise to be a lot of fun and will help raise funds for charities which support people of all ages in Rhondda Cynon Taf.”

For more information, please call the Events team on 01443 424123 email events@rctcbc.gov.uk or go to the Events pages

People taking part in Lap the Lake can consider raising sponsorship from the event. Donations to the Mayor’s Charity Appeal can also be made through a new secure online service. Please visit the Mayor's page if you would like to make a donation. Or if you have an idea for a fundraising event, please contact the Mayoral Office on 01443 494061.
