The Parish of St Fagans Aberdare is offering a warm welcome to anyone who wants to celebrate the real meaning of Easter – new life and fresh hope.
The Parish covers Cwmdare, Trecynon and Llwydcoed and there are a number of services and events taking place during Holy Week.
Holy Week begins on Sunday 13 April with Palm Sunday, when the Sine Nomine Singers will be performing an evening of sacred music and readings at St James’s Church in Llwydcoed at 6.30pm.
On Monday 14, Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 April, the Reverend Canon Richard Lowndes, Mission Officer for Llandaff Diocese will be giving an address each night at 7.00pm in St Fagan’s Church, Trecynon.
On Good Friday, 18 April, there are a number of services taking place. At 10.00am, a Family Service will be held in St Luke's Church, Cwmdare. At 12noon, a ‘Stations of the Cross’ service will take place, also at St Luke's Church, Cwmdare. At 2.00pm, the Liturgy of the Day (readings, prayers, hymns and Holy Communion) will take place in St Fagan's Church, Trecynon. Finally, at 6.00pm, a ‘Stations of the Cross’ service will take place in St James Church, Llwydcoed.
Saturday 19 April is Easter Eve and the Parish will be holding an Easter vigil at St Fagan’s Church in Trecynon from 8.00pm.
For anyone who fancies an energetic start to Easter Sunday, there will be a Dawn Service at 6.00am on the Darren in Dare Valley Country Park. Meet in visitor centre car park at 5.15am for a brisk walk to the summit of the Darren (please wear suitable clothing), followed by breakfast in St Fagan's Community Hall in Trecynon.
