Carers Relaxation Pamper Scheme

Carers Relaxation Pamper Scheme

Carers who experience stress, anxiety, tiredness or physical problems due to their caring role can enjoy a well-deserved pampering.

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Carers Support Project has ongoing funding for the Carers Relaxation Pamper Voucher Scheme,

This means that carers feeling the aches and pains or just in need of stress relief can enjoy specialist relaxation treatment at Coleg y Cymoedd in Nantgarw.

The scheme was established with Welsh Government funding in 2011 working in partnership with Coleg Morganwg. It is now funded through the Carers Support Project.

“The hard work and dedication of carers has been recognised in an initiative that will offer complimentary therapies to those in a caring role.

“The government funded program was set up to offer carers some rest and relaxation after they put so much, both physically and mentally, into their caring roles. The Council realises the toll such dedication can have and we are pleased to provide a service that may go some way to helping.”

The vouchers can be offered in combination with a sitting service, funded by the Carers Support Project, to ensure the carer has a respite break.

The scheme was created after carers were consulted as part of the Carers Strategy work, where the need to address stress was identified. The scheme will also help practitioners identify an outcome from a carer’s assessment.

The scheme is for any Carer who has had a carer’s assessment and is identified as someone who needs relaxation away from the caring role. The assessments can be undertaken by their Care Manager.
