Age Cymru's My Home Life Cymru programme has launched a new guide about how to choose a care home.

‘Care Home Checklist – helping you to make the right choice’ has been produced with the Older People’s Commissioner for Wales.

We're unveiling it today at the ‘Inspiring culture change in care homes’ conference in Ewloe.

John Moore, our My Home Life Cymru’s Programme Manager says:

“Choosing a care home is one of the most important decisions you can make as you want to be sure that your new home offers everything you need and is a place you will be happy to live in.

“This checklist we’re launching with the Older People’s Commissioner for Wales will aid you in identifying those factors that are important when choosing a care home.”

Sarah Rochira, Older People’s Commissioner for Wales says:

“It’s just so important that all older people have voice, choice and control over their lives and that they have the right support to make informed decisions, particularly when choosing a place to live as a home is so much more than bricks and mortar.

“This checklist will play a vital role in helping new and prospective residents and their families to make an informed choice about the care home they choose to live in."
