0fficers hope logo holds key to armed robbery investigation

Contact: Phil Rees at Pontypridd Police Station via 101 quoting reference *390698.
Officers investigating an armed robbery at a shop in Pontypridd in December hope their latest breakthrough will lead them to the suspect.

The David Haye versus Dereck Chisoro logo on a hooded top worn by the armed robber.
Closer examination of the CCTV footage has enabled them to release details of an image they believe was printed on the suspect’s hooded top at the time of the robbery.
The distinctive image depicts boxer David Haye, nose to nose with Dereck Chisoro, an opponent back in July 2012.
Officers believe there won’t be many people in the region with the same item of clothing.
They are appealing for anybody living in or around the Pontypridd area, who knows somebody who owns this hooded top, or who has noticed one gone missing, to call them.
Back on Friday, 13th December, a hooded man walked into a store on Pwllgwaun Road, Pontypridd store just after 2pm and demanded money from the shopkeeper.
He threatened him with what looked like a firearm, but made off when the shopkeeper lunged over the counter to grab the gun.
It is believed he headed towards a footpath which joins the cricket club with Barry Road.
The suspect has been described as being 5ft 10 with an average build. Most of his face was obscured with a black or grey hat that was pulled down to his eyes, and a black scarf which covered most of his face, but it is believed the suspect is white.
Anyone with information can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or they can call 101.
