Bovine TB: Farmers' anger and frustration ignored

Commenting on a Welsh Government update on its bovine TB vaccination programme – which confirms the number of cattle slaughtered for TB control between Dec ’12 and Nov ’13 stands at 6,275 - Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Russell George AM, said:

“Farmers continue to get a raw deal from Carwyn Jones and Welsh Labour – and their anger and frustrations continue to be ignored.

“Simply – this policy isn’t working.

“Farmers’ costs are spiralling and huge numbers of cattle continue to be slaughtered.

“Tried and tested methods of eradicating TB are still being dismissed by Labour ministers and it is our already struggling farming industry that is bearing the brunt of their mistakes.

“Farmers continue to tell me they have been hit emotionally, psychologically and financially by this continuing fiasco.

“I urge Welsh Labour ministers to do more to tackle bovine TB, listen to the views of farmers, and put an end to this failing programme.”
