Businesses throughout the County Borough have a chance to start the New Year in award-winning style.

Rhondda Cynon Taf’s businesses are urged to submit their entries for the RCT Business Club Gala Awards for 2014. The closing date is Friday, 14th February.

Organised by RCT Business Club, the awards are open to all businesses within the County Borough. They are free to enter and businesses may apply for as many categories as they wish. The awards categories this year include:

Environmental Business of the Year - Sponsored by RWE Npower Renewables
Excellence in Manufacturing - Sponsored by Local Investment Fund South East Wales.
Excellence in Marketing - Sponsored by The Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Independent Retailer - Sponsored by Federation of Small Businesses.
Innovative Business of the Year - Sponsored by L’Oreal UK Limited.
New Start-up Business of the Year - Sponsored by KTS Owens Thomas.
Service Sector Business of the Year - Sponsored by Peninsula Business Services.
One of the seven categories winners will also be selected as the RCT Business Club Business of the Year.

Rusty Livock, the Deputy Chief Executive of Connect Assist, previous winner of the Innovative Business of the Year and Overall Winner of the RCT Business Club Business of the Year 2013, said the award had a genuine, positive impact on the Nantgarw-based company.

She explained that it had not only had a positive effect on her staff but also allowed her company to win tendering opportunities above rival firms by giving them “an edge” over competitors.

Cllr Paul Cannon QPM, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Community Safety at Rhondda Cynon Taf Council said, “The awards take place each year to celebrate the very best businesses and business practices in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

“The Council cannot stress enough the importance it places on a strong and vibrant business sector which is the foundation of a healthy and prosperous society.

“We continue to operate in challenging economic times and many businesses out there are feeling this. However, there are success stories and I think it is crucial that we highlight these successes and celebrate them.

“The Rhondda Cynon Taf Business Club Awards recognise our success stories and are a fantastic way to encourage and reward entrepreneurial spirit and achievement. The standard of entries is always very high and seems to get better every year.”

RCT Business Club will hold a gala ceremony at Miskin Manor Hotel on 28th March 2014.

Full details of the entry criteria and how to enter are available at www.rctbusinessclub.co.uk or contact Chris Edwards on 01443 495189.
