'Add To Your Life' volunteers in RCT and Merthyr

Age Cymru Wales

Five South Wales residents are celebrating passing an Age Cymru course that has qualified them to work with local over 50s to improve their health.

They have completed training with us to help run a service called ‘Add To Your Life’ in Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil.

‘Add To Your Life’ is a free online health check set up by NHS Wales to help the public live longer, feel better, and stay healthy and active.

Age Cymru is working with NHS Wales to deliver ‘Add To Your Life’ in Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil.

Claire Bottomley, our Healthy Ageing Manager says:

“First of all, I’d like to say ‘congratulations’ to our volunteers on passing the training course!

“They’ve put in a lot of hard work and their dedication has paid off – we’re very proud of them all.

“ ‘Add To Your Life’ can help you discover more about your health, learn the simple steps you can take to stay fit or get healthier and discover local services to help you make a positive change to your life.

“It is a potentially life-changing service and Age Cymru is proud to be working with NHS Wales on this project in Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil.”

Paul Pearce from Pontyclun is one of the five volunteers who have passed the Age Cymru ‘Add To Your Life’ training.

Says Paul:

“When you’re working, it’s fine to give money to good causes, but when you’re retired it’s also good to give your time to a good cause.

“I found out about the ‘Add to Your Life’ training on the Age Cymru website and the training took about three days in total and it was easy to do and very enjoyable.

“I felt I had really achieved something when I passed the ‘Add To Your Life’ course and I would definitely recommend it to other people.”

Age Cymru is looking for more volunteers like Paul, to support ‘Add To Your Life’ in the Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil areas.
