The new 20-mile Aberdare Circular Walk is launched at the Dare Valley Country Park
Rhondda Cynon Taf Mayor, Cllr Ann Crimmings, is set to officially launch the Aberdare Circular Walk on Tuesday, September 10, at the Dare Valley Country Park.
Destined to be a popular addition to the area, the Aberdare Circular is a scenic 20-mile walk in the countryside around Aberdare. It includes sections of open moorland, with spectacular views, secluded flood meadows, woodland, ffridd and farmland, a sculpture park, old railway and tramroad paths.
There are also shorter circular walk options available. The entire route is signposted and way-marked, mostly following public rights of way, as shown on the OS Explorer map no166 (1:25,000).
The Aberdare Circular Walk webpage will also be available from September 10, complete with pdf route maps which can be downloaded.
The route can be walked over two days, using public transport or circular walk options to provide the links to accommodation.
The Dare Valley Country Park, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the County Borough, is an excellent base for the Aberdare Circular Walk. It offers hotel accommodation and a camping and caravan site, as well as the ever-popular Cwtch Café
Situated close to the hustle and bustle of the town centre, the Dare Valley Country Park is set within 500 acres of stunning countryside and offers peace and tranquillity. The Dare Valley Country Park is owned by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council.
