‘A level results show Wales is travelling in the right direction, but there is still work to do’

ATL

Commenting after the release of this year’s A level results, Dr. Philip Dixon, Director of ATL Cymru, said: ‘Congratulations are due to students and teachers for all their hard work in producing these excellent A level results. It is particularly pleasing to note the significant increase in the number of our youngsters who have achieved the highest A* grades, and the overall increase in grades A* - B. Although Wales is still lagging behind England and Northern Ireland it does seem that we are now travelling in the right direction. It is also good to see that more youngsters are taking subjects such as maths, history, and physics but the decline in the number studying modern foreign languages continues to cause concern.’
